Traumatic Events

It is common knowledge that Traum a can be caused by war or natural disasters but in fact trauma can be much more commonly experienced than that. Negative experiences in early childhood can have a life-long effect if left unresolved.

Trauma primes organs in the brain, principally the amygdala. The amygdala is connected with the ‘fight, flight or freeze’ system. To experience anything that relates even minimally to that earlier trauma, will be experienced as dangerous and to be avoided. Anyone who has experienced multiple traumatic events may develop a range of problems notably anxiety, depression or anger problems.

These problems can all be eased with therapy.
