Pesso Boyden Group Therapy
Pesso Boyden Therapy
Most people tend to seek individual or couple therapy, but there is an alternative which is both collaborative and rewarding in different ways.
Pesso Boyden group therapy is a respectful, client-centred option for self-healing in a small group setting.
Groups are confidential, supportive and provide a safe place to explore deep personal issues without pressure and with the friendly company of others.
Often therapists themselves need opportunities to extend their skills through self-healing in a group setting and Pesso Boyden, known as the ‘Therapists Therapy’, is an ideal forum for this, but anyone is welcome.
Pesso Boyden is one of the very few therapeutic approches which can be used successfully to treat pre-verbal trauma. This is because it is essentially a body-based form of therapy. It is an excellent choice if you have tried other forms of therapy before, but they don’t seem to quite reach your problem.
PBSP works gently and imaginatively with problems we have in our present life and traces their roots late or early in our memory or our body to experience the feelings of safety, support, security love and protection that may have been absent in childhood. With patient precision, we identify what exactly was needed for healing relief, with the right kinship figure, at the right moment in our past as a ‘new memory’ that sits alongside the clients past and offers an alternate way of experiencing.
This groupwork, where individual therapy is enhanced through appointing group members to take the roles of a variety of ‘figures’, can resonate very deeply with all group members.
Recent discoveries in neuroscience demonstrate new wiring can occur in the brain as a result of Psychotherapeutic interventions. This is the explicit objective of PBSP.
Our Pesso Boyden Groups take place in Teddington, West London at present and a group in Chiswick is planned.
